Sports Injury Management & Rehabilitation
Sports Injury Management
We have a five step concept plan which underpins our athletic rehabilitation:
Protection Phase
Introduction to load
Strength accumulation
Training Accumulation
Return to performance
Minimise time off field by addressing your sporting niggles and injuries with us.
- We set realistic timeframes to return to sport using individual athlete rehab planning.
- Each phase of rehab has distinct goals and objectives based off our athletes’ injuries and projected timeline of rehabilitation.
- This ensures our athletes return to sport after passing specific exit criteria, which research shows this significantly reduces risk of re injury.
Rehab should be forward thinking, positive and dictated by future outcome goals before moving on to the next phase.
- This involves the accumulation of strength, power and speed coupled with targeting energy systems used in your sport.
- We provide the highest standards of care and give every client the opportunity to be treated and tailored like a sports person.
Our network of Sports Physicians and Orthopaedic Surgeons across Sydney gives us further confidence to support you if you need another opinion, a scan or possible surgery.
- We devote the time to discuss with your coaches your injury, expected timeframe and availability to train so that everyone is working together to assist you in your return.
On field sports rehabiltation programming
Physiotherapists usually have a disconnect between ‘clearing’ an athlete in the clinic and getting the athlete back on field at their optimum state. At Point Health & Performance, we bridge that crucial gap and focus on exposing you to full match demands before returning to play. Our extensive experience with on field rehabilitation means our intention is not just clear you in the clinic, but ensure you are 100% fit and able to complete all on field physical and technical requirements of your sport.
We recommend booking an extended consult when undertaking on field programming.
Performance injury screening
Brad Zalloua has undertaken many pre season and in season screenings of his athletes during his time at Manly United and Sydney FC.
Whether you are a recreational sports person or an elite athlete of youth or adult age; understanding your baseline values can be pivotal in your ability to:
- Reduce injury risk of weak or compromised body parts
- Create a progressively loaded performance enhancing program based off the data collected
- See improvements from baseline testing in monthly, quarterly or 6 monthly re testing
- If you unfortunately sustain an injury, baseline testing can be used to benchmark your return to play process safely.
We recommend booking an extended consult when undertaking injury screening.
SPORTS INJURY PHYSIO
WORKING THROUGH A SPORTS INJURY WITH A PHYSIO
When you suffer a sports injury, a physio may be able to provide you with different treatment options to support your recovery. Whether you hurt yourself playing a pick-up game with friends or you’re a committed athlete who suffered an injury in a competitive game or a vigorous practice, the results are often the same: pain and frustration. Many sports injuries can be very uncomfortable while also taking a long time to heal fully. When all you want is to get back out on the field and start playing again, it’s not always easy to have the patience to wait.
At Point Health & Performance, we’re proud to provide a guided, well-defined process for managing your road back towards a healthier body. Seeking assistance from a physio in Concord can open the door to a support system that uses evidence-based techniques to guide your recovery. Why Choose Point Health & Performance for Sports Injury Management?
Engaging in sports rehab with a physio can be your direct connection to a more profound experience and understanding of how the body heals following different kinds of sports injuries. We believe strongly in patient education, and we see your journey as a collaboration. When you visit our practice, you’ll find we stand out in several ways:
- Our team takes the time to learn your story, not just the basic circumstances of your injury or the symptoms you’ve experienced. We want you to feel fully engaged in your care, and we believe that begins with establishing a strong bond of trust between patient and practitioner. We want to know your desired treatment outcomes — once we’ve established your goals, we can work towards them together.
- We work with a “just ask once” philosophy. We don’t think patients should have to chase after answers or make repeated demands for care. Ask once, and we’ll remember.
- We freely acknowledge when additional experience may be necessary. From liaising with your coaches to providing access to our network of professional contacts in Sydney sports medicine, we’ll connect you with other practitioners as necessary.
The Process We Use To Aid Those with Sports Injuries through Physiotherapy
When you’ve been hurt, it’s natural to want fast answers about how soon you’ll be able to begin playing again or how quickly you’ll regain your range of motion. Everyone’s different, so precise answers are challenging — but we’ve developed a refined process to guide your recovery. Here’s how it works:
- First, we learn about your injury, discuss your goals, and determine what constitutes a successful outcome. The first phase of treatment is always the “protection” phase — stabilising your injury and ensuring you do not cause any further harm. Next, we gradually introduce load-bearing activities into the mix.
- Over time, we’ll help you rebuild strength in the injured area through a strength accumulation. This process can ultimately lead to the “training accumulation” phase in which we assist you in moving beyond basic rehab activities.
- Finally, we’ll monitor your progress to assist your efforts to develop pre-injury performance. At every step, we listen to your feedback, assess how you feel, and adjust treatment as needed.
